Onewater is a social enterprise committed to building a water-wise world. We break down knowledge barriers and promote global collaboration on water, sanitation, environment and ocean-related issues. The mission: facilitate water-positive policies and decision-making that align with nature, local communities, and the economy.
We drive change through telling inspiring stories that transform perceptions about Earth's most vital element. We stand at the intersection of content creation, design, research, data, onsite support and training. Our services are designed to bridge the gaps between knowledge and action.
Whether we’re at our desks writing, drawing, coding, or researching, or out in the field at conferences and project sites lending a few hands and cameras, we are dedicated to producing interactive, multilingual, and science-based content across all imaginable formats. Since extends beyond a job to a social passion project, we proudly offer professional copy-editing and translation services at no cost, so that anyone can get their story out to everyone.
Our origins
Onewater, initially called Water Science Policy, was founded by a graduate cohort of the University of Oxford’s School of Geography and the Environment in 2020. It is a lockdown baby conceived by former students who wanted to create an engaging and accessible platform for water-related content to bridge the many science-policy gaps. The initial WordPress blog featured contributions from students, professors, artists, and development professionals. As of 2021, Onewater is registered as a social enterprise in Germany.
Over time, it became evident that the name ‘Water Science Policy’ worked against our aim of bridging barriers to water-related knowledge through accessible science communication. We changed our name to emphasise the fact that previously distant sectors must work together, countries must collaborate, and science and policy must combine. ‘Onewater’ also embodies the unity of all people and forms of water along with its interconnections with every part of life, particularly health, energy, food, a thriving environment, and peace and security.
As our new assistant fundraiser and proposal writer, you’re invited to join that journey and help us to scale up.
Role overview
We are looking for someone who is excited to join a young and global team and is motivated to contribute to an organisation that is still in its early stages. You will initially be tasked with administrative tasks and input to smaller proposals to familiarise yourself with the existing projects and work. Going forward, you will take a lead role in Onewater’s partnership and resource mobilisation efforts with large organisations, including UN bodies and governments.
